Review: Smile Sciences Teeth Whitening Pen

Hello Beauties!  Today I'm coming to you with a review of a cosmetic product that I'm very excited about... the Smile Sciences Rx Strength Teeth Whitening Pen!  This little beauty has brightened my life in more ways than one.

Everyone knows the saying, "A smile is the best makeup a person can wear", and to be honest it's true... as long as your smile is top notch!  For years I've been self-conscious of my smile, because it's always been a bit dingy, if you know what I mean.  As a beauty blogger and avid lover of makeup, this has been problematic, because with yellow teeth you can't wear every lipstick shade you want without your teeth looking even more yellow than they already are!  But since receiving this pen from Smile Sciences, I can start wearing those bright orange shades and fire engine reds once more, because my smile is brighter and whiter than ever.

I've used many whitening products over the years, from strips, to gel, to clunky trays, and have continually been disappointed.  I never thought that whitening pens could work, because wouldn't the product simply wipe off your teeth?  I was wrong... this product works, and it works quickly.

I've never really cared for my teeth the way I should... of course I brush and floss daily, but my lifestyle has yellowed my smile far more than what is normal.  I live on coffee and soda, and I am a smoker as well, and this combination has really made my teeth unsightly.

In a few days, my smile has completely transformed, just as this pen has promised.  Smile Sciences claims that this product can get you "Up to 9 Shades Whiter in Days!"   Although the packaging does not specify how many days this will take, a representative from the company assured me that 10 days was the ideal time frame - I decided to test it for two weeks.

This gel's active ingredient is Hydrogen Peroxide (12%), which they claim works 4x faster and is 3x stronger than treatments with carbamide peroxide, which most whitening products use.  The gel is clear and doesn't taste bad at all, which really surprised me.  All of the other gels and pastes I've used to whiten my teeth have been truly foul and even made me gag!  This is almost tasteless in comparison, and there is no harsh smell either. 

Directions for Use:

First, you must brush and floss your teeth as normal, and rinse thoroughly to make sure there is nothing on your teeth to affect the formula.  Before you apply the whitening product, you have to dry off your teeth thoroughly... this was a HUGE problem for me, because my teeth are extremely sensitive.  I get that "nails on a chalkboard" feeling whenever I even THINK of touching my teeth with a towel or tissue.  However I managed it as best as I could, and it was worth it. All you have to do is paint the gel onto your teeth.. it's quite simple.  It is safe if you get it on your lips or gums, and will not cause you any pain or discomfort. You must keep your mouth in an awkward smile for about 30 seconds until the gel dries, leave it on for 20 minutes, and then rinse.

You don't need to use a lot of gel at one time, either, and this pen could last you for months.  One twist of the pen, and one drop of gel, is enough to cover up to five of your teeth!  Because you don't need to use a ton of product, and because the formulation isn't too harsh, it doesn't make your teeth overly sensitive with each use.  I used the gel twice a day, as directed, for two weeks, and my teeth were not any more sensitive than before I began.

Overall, this pen from Smile Sciences far exceeds any other whitening product I've used.  Currently I'm using their Teeth Whitening Kit, with a high intensity gel and LED light, and have been really blown away by the results!  I really have a model-worthy smile.
